An agency represents suppliers of beverage alcohol products, acting on their behalf in selecting and offering the appropriate products to match LCBO requirements. An agency does not own and resell these products. If the LCBO buys any of the products offered, then the agency has a major role in assisting with their marketing to the public through attending tradeshows and more.

An agency does not import alcohol. An importer is a company which buys, brings in, stores and then markets these products which they own. The only importer of beverage alcohol products in Ontario (and all the other Provinces except Alberta) is the LCBO.
